D'Angelo in the Hieghts
World renowned
fashion designer, Edwing D’Angelo, has returned to Harlem’s roots
with the opening of his signature exclusive Atelier. After taking a
two year hiatus when he moved his private Atelier in SoHo, D’Angelo
decided, as a good son, to return to his home turf, Harlem, by
opening a beautiful and sophisticated private showroom in the
historical City College/Saint Nicholas Park, Manhattanville. As
expected, the custom-made or made-to-measure Couture Atelier will be
opened by appointment only. D’Angelo will continue to offer his
high-end garments to both men and women.

Clients are expected to be showered with attentions and amenities,
being welcomed into an amazing cozy setting, to drink top shelf
champagnes, wines, coffees, bottled waters, the finest cheeses,
crackers, fruits and occasionally his top clients are invited to
brunch after church on Sundays. Some of the best dressed Abyssinian
Baptist Church members are even doing tea at D’Angelo’s.
This Harlem’s own has exhibited his collections in NYC Fashion Week,
Dallas Mart Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week, Miami Fashion
Week, Houston, Fashion Week Mexico, Expo Colombia, and this coming
season will be showing in Barcelona Fashion Week.
D’Angelo’s work has been featured in the New York Post, Daily News,
Associated Press, a special on CBS-2 Morning with Anchorwoman Shon
Gables, BET VJ’s Tiffany and Free, Lifetime “Strong Medicine” star
Rosa Blasi and NBC “Third Watch” star Tia Texada. D’Angelo also
served as fashion consultant for BET Music Awards, Univision ABC,
Telemundo, CBS, Full Frontal Fashion, MTV, VH1, Latina Magazine,
CW11, NY1, etc. He is also in high demand dressing and outfitting
everyone from Patti LaBelle, Vivica A. Fox, Lil Kim, Paula Garces,
Nelly and Sean Paul to Winona Judd just to name a few.
Of note, Edwing D’Angelo classic floral dress is in a hot fashion
scene from the 2006 hit movie “The Devil Wears Prada.” D’Angelo’s
looks continue to be featured in the 2006 film “Dirty Laundry.” He
was also the custom designer for the Super Bowl XL Pepsi commercial,
Reebok uses D’Angelo’s creative ability to re-designed its
sportswear for violin siren, Miri Ben-Ari, in her “I AM” campaign.
D’Angelo creates exclusive designs for Wynona Judd for her country
music American Idol television show.
“I
am completely at home when I am in Harlem,” says D’Angelo. He
continues “this is where I live, the church that I go to is here,
where a lot of my friends live… My first steps as a designer where
here in Harlem... so it is a natural fit for my business to be here
in this thriving neighborhood.” This is the neighborhood where
everyone is welcomed. D’Angelo also believes that Harlem is again
New York City’s ultimate fashion frontier.
